Free GR-MEGA project, GR-1 3.0 betatest

Welcome to 2025! We hope this will be an amazing year for you, filled with music and technology.

A long time Tasty Chips user, Olivier Lebeau (aka Origami23) has generously donated a project for the GR-MEGA he had been working on in the last months. You can download it here from our community page: https://www.tastychips.nl/community/#Community-Soundpacks. Enjoy, and big thanks from us to you, Olivier!

Speaking of the GR-MEGA. We’ll do one more bugfix release: 1.2.6, and then we’ll directly proceed to 1.3, which should be focused on GUI improvements.

Beta versions of GR-1 Firmware 3.0 is now being tested by several users. We’ve not made the beta version public yet, as we feel we need to first see if there aren’t any crazy bugs left in there. We may open a newer beta version up for testing by a wider audience at some point. For those of you that are interested in all the changes and new features: we made a small write-up here: https://www.tastychips.nl/downloads/GR-1/UserManual/GR-1_3.0_getting_started.pdf.

We’ve also prepared a new SD card image. This baby is more resistant against corruption. Note that you will have to reflash your internal SD card to make use of this, or of course you can also buy a new GR-1. 😉 We’re also thinking about making a special version of the GR-1 with an military/medical grade SD card, but we’re not sure yet. The safe shutdown option in firmware 3.0 (in the system menu) should already help to avoid corruption..

The final assembly of the new batch of our Integral convolver stompboxes has begun. We’ll need a week or two to fulfill backorders. We expect to have stock at the end of January.

Additionally, we’re looking for people to help us out with final assembly and testing of our products. If you live in the vicinity of Utrecht, and if you think you’re up for it, please mail to pvdmeer@tastychips.nl. Thanks!

That’s it for this news letter. See you in the next one!
