New GR-MEGA Video & production time table

As usual, there’s good news and bad news. Let’s just start with the bad news. Testing the final casing took its time, and production lead time is longer than expected. Instead of mid April, the first units will now ship late May, most likely. We know this is a fierce setback, also for us. But at least we have the feeling that this is the definitive deadline. We’ve put in orders for the PCB’s now and PCB assembly should start in about 3 weeks. Scroll to the end of this post to find the time table, and see when it’s your turn!

On with the good news, then. First of all we’ve made a demo video where we give a short and artistic impression of the look & feel of the MEGA. This is the first video of a many. Enjoy!

While we’re preparing to build the first units, we’ll release a few more video’s that will go more and more in-depth with each episode.

What’s more. We’ve now got the internal storage running at proper speed and reliability. Because this is our top model synth, we’re installing high reliability 500GB drives that should be able to last many many years. The speed is also much higher than the storage in the GR-1. We can safely say that the hardware functionality and performance are now at 100%!

And while we’re waiting for the casings, we also use the newly found time to perfect the firmware.

As you can see below, we’re building the first GR-MEGA’s in small batches, starting with silver casings only. After two or three of these small batches we can probably ramp up production speed, so that we can keep up with demand in autumn. The GR-MEGA should reach the dealers soon after that. In the mean time you can best place a preorder with us if you want it quick. This table is superceded by the regularly updated table in our support page.
